Because I was having a number of issues with the stock app, I decided to investigate the BLE interface exposed by the device and attempt to produce a working alternative. I ultimately managed to reverse engineer the protocol and produce a working app that could get current conditions as well as historic data.
Unfortunately the hardware ultimately stopped working, so the project and app were abandoned.
