Schimera Launches Weather Monitor, an Alternative for Oregon Scientific Weather Stations

Schimera Pty Ltd today announced Weather Monitor, a new iOS and Android app for users with compatible Oregon Scientific weather stations and sensors. Built as a modern alternative to the original Weather@Home app experience, Weather Monitor helps users connect to their station, view current indoor and outdoor conditions, and review up to seven days of available weather history from their phone.

Many Oregon Scientific weather station owners still rely on their home weather stations every day, but the companion app hasn't kept pace with modern mobile expectations. Connectivity problems, limited updates and ageing app design can make it difficult for users to access the local weather data their station is already collecting. Weather Monitor gives users a practical new option, a focused mobile app designed for fast access, clear readings, historical charts and useful exports.

"Oregon Scientific stations are still useful devices, but a weather station is only as good as the app people use to read it," said Sean Ashton, founder of Schimera Pty Ltd. "Weather Monitor is designed for people who want to keep using their existing hardware while getting a cleaner, more reliable and more modern app experience on iOS and Android."

Weather Monitor displays current indoor and outdoor temperature, indoor and outdoor humidity, air pressure, estimated sunrise and sunset times, the current moon phase, and the station's predicted forecast for the next 12 hours. Temperature can be shown in Celsius or Fahrenheit, and air pressure can be displayed in hPa, mmHg or inHg.

When history is available from the connected station, Weather Monitor displays charts for the last seven days of data and includes a CSV export feature so users can email their weather history directly from their phone.

Weather Monitor supports up to seven external temperature and humidity sensors, with trends for temperature and humidity, dew point for each temperature sensor and low battery warnings for each external sensor.
