Grid Assess Privacy Policy

This document clarifies how user data and any sensitive information is handled within the application.

User Provided Information

No user data is captured or transmitted to our servers during the use of the application.  If errors occur while using the Application, an error log may be logged to the device filesystem, and may be automatically sent to Schimera Pty Ltd for review by Apple.  This error log contains anonymous data, such as hardware information, operating system version and any error description that may help identify the problem. This is the only form of user provided information Schimera Pty Ltd has access to if the report is sent to Apple.

Permissions Read/Write permission to user selected files

The app allows users to select an existing image or take a new image on their own device to attach to an assessment. The image is not sent to any other server or 3rd party, everything is processed locally within the application.

Location permission

The app determines your current location when starting an assessment to store the location with the assessment meta data. Users can alter this location when editing an assessment if needed. The location is not transmitted to any servers, it is only stored locally within the application.

Data Stored in the App

Grid Assess stores assessment information locally on your device. This may include trial details, assessment numbers, treatment names, plot scores, notes, labels, timers, attached images and assessment locations.

This data is not uploaded to Schimera Pty Ltd or any other 3rd party servers. If you export, share, back up, email, AirDrop, save or transfer assessment data using your device’s sharing features, the data will be handled by the destination app, service or person you choose.

Microphone and Speech Recognition

Grid Assess may request microphone and speech recognition access for hands-free numeric data entry during plot assessment.

Speech input is used only to interpret the values you speak into the app. Grid Assess does not use microphone access for advertising, tracking or background recording. Speech recognition may be processed by the operating system or platform speech recognition service, depending on your device settings and platform.

Exports and Sharing

Grid Assess Pro allows users to export reports, PDFs and image archives. Exported files may contain assessment data, plot scores, treatment details, photos, timestamps and location information where those details have been added to the assessment.

Exports are created on your device. Grid Assess does not automatically upload exported files to Schimera Pty Ltd servers. You control where exported files are sent or saved.

Local Network Transfers

Grid Assess may provide local network transfer features so you can download image archives or assessment-related files from your device to another device on the same network.

These transfers are initiated by you and occur over your local network only. Files transferred this way may include plot photos and related assessment information. Schimera Pty Ltd does not receive a copy of files transferred using this feature.

Third-Party Service Providers

Grid Assess uses Apple App Store / StoreKit on Apple platforms to process subscriptions and manage subscription entitlements. Apple processes payment and account information under Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms.

Grid Assess may use Google Play Billing to process subscriptions and manage subscription entitlements. Google processes payment and account information under Google’s own privacy policy and Google Play terms.

Schimera Pty Ltd does not sell Grid Assess user data and does not use Grid Assess app data for third-party advertising or tracking.

Data Retention and Deletion

Assessment data is stored locally on your device until you delete it in the app, delete the app or remove the app’s stored data using your device’s operating system tools.

Schimera Pty Ltd does not maintain a server copy of your assessment data. If you contact support or send an error report, we may retain the information you provide for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, diagnose issues, maintain business records and comply with legal obligations.

Subscription and payment records are retained by Apple or Google according to their own policies. Schimera Pty Ltd may retain App Store Connect or Google Play Console reports as needed for accounting, tax, support and legal purposes.

Children

We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at privacy@schimera.com.

We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Grid Assess offers optional Grid Assess Pro subscriptions, including monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscription options.

Apple Platforms (iOS and iPadOS)

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Schimera Pty Ltd does not receive or store your payment card details, Apple ID password or full billing information.

When you purchase, restore, renew, cancel or manage a subscription, Apple may process purchase and account information under Apple’s own privacy terms. Grid Assess receives subscription entitlement information from StoreKit, such as whether you have an active Grid Assess Pro subscription and which subscription product is active, so that the app can unlock Pro features.

Schimera Pty Ltd may have access to App Store Connect sales, subscription and financial reports provided by Apple, which may include aggregated sales information and Apple-generated subscription identifiers. This information is used to operate the subscription service, support purchases, understand product performance, meet accounting obligations and comply with legal requirements.

Grid Assess Pro unlocks export-related features, including report, PDF and image archive exports. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but does not delete assessment data stored locally on your device.

Android

Purchases are processed by Google through Google Play Billing. Schimera Pty Ltd does not receive or store your payment card details, Google account password, or full billing information.

Grid Assess receives subscription entitlement information from Google Play Billing, such as whether you have an active Grid Assess Pro subscription and which subscription product is active, so that the app can unlock Pro features.

Schimera Pty Ltd may have access to Google Play Console sales, subscription and financial reports provided by Google. This information is used to operate the subscription service, support purchases, understand product performance, meet accounting obligations and comply with legal requirements.

Security

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorised employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our Application. Please be aware that, although we endeavour provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy at  Grid Assess Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
